Mbombela Stadium Nelspruit
Nelspruit is the gateway to the lowveld, that area of South Africa best known for Kruger National Park, but also the trough way to Mozambique and the northern Drakesnberg escarpment. The Mbombela Stadium is a custom build facility commissioned especailly for the Fifa World Cup 2010 Tournament.
The Stadium
Mbombela Stadium has been sited a few kilometers west of the city adjacent to the M4 Highway and the railways line. It is still under construction but is expected to be completed in time for the 2010 Tournament. The stadium is designed to be the centerpiece of a wider sports precinct featuring cricket and athletics as well as other disciplines.
The stadium will have a seating capacity of 44 000 divided into 3 tiers with 21 000 lower tier, 3 500 middle tier and 19 000 on the upper tier. The stadium will host 4 matches.
