Search here for great deals on cheap airfare to Johannesburg
Each year, millions of tourists use Johannesburg as entry and exit point for their vacation in South Africa. And it makes sense to do this for some good reasons – first of all, Johannesburg offers a lot of interesting places to visit, and its airport is the busiest in Africa.
When it comes to finding a cheap flight to Johannesburg, thanks to the many airlines serving the city, you won’t have problem finding affordable airfare whether you depart from Europe or North America.
Two airports serving Johannesburg
O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) is the busiest airport in Africa and serves as the main airport for domestic and international travel to/from South Africa. It is a hub for South African Airways , the largest domestic and international carrier in the country. It also serves as hub for some important domestic airlines. There are many international flights arriving here, including from London, Paris, Amsterdam, and New York.
The other airport serving the city is Lanseria Airport (HLA) . Unlike JNB, it’s privately owned. It only offers domestic flights.
How to save money on flights to Johannesburg
Schedule your flights for midweek. Weekends are typically filled with leisure travelers, while Mondays are always filled with business travelers. So that leaves mid-week for those who want to save money on airfare.
Also, plan to visit South Africa during the low season. So, avoid flying between October and March. Outside of these months, airfare is lower. In fact, if you fly from London to Johannesburg in mid-July, you can get away with less than $1000 RT per person.
