Homeless World Cup: Three Weeks (and a bit) to Go!
Random update on the Homeless World Cup: just about three weeks to go until Cape Town plays host to hundreds of people from all over the world, who sell streetpapers like The Big Issue for a living.
They’ll be in town to play some serious streetsoccer, and make some serious headway in the fight against global inequality – both by raising its profile and by changing the lives of the HWC participants.
The tournament will be held each day from 23 – 30 Sep, with all the soccer action happening on Cape Town’s central Grand Parade (bordered by Darling and Buitenkant Streets, just outside the central train station and the Castle).
Meanwhile, SA Logue has learned that all the players will be put up in the Ritz Hotel, Sea Point. Now, this isn’t exactly the Ritz, but it will most certainly do!
Good luck to all the teams! Go South Africa!
