Earthquake Hits Southern Africa
An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale – Africa’s strongest in a century – struck Mocambique yesterday morning. The tremors were felt as far away as Durban, where several hotels along the beachfront were evacuated.
Two Mocambiquans died in the quake, and at least one building collapsed. Geologists have warned of aftershocks.
