Cape Town WiFi Hotspot: the Media24 Building
The Media24 building, on Cape Town’s foreshore, is something of an anomaly, in that it’s a busy, bustling, energetic place in the midst of a ghost neighborhood – a part of town that ran out of steam decades ago. True, the city’s sleek new Convention Center is but a hop-skip-and-jump away, but in terms of the atmosphere of their surrounds the two structures exist in separate worlds.
The building is headquarters for the Media24 group, a.k.a. Naspers, a.k.a. significant bastion of Afrikaner privelege, even in this late day. Politics aside, the ground floor is home to a pleasant cafe, which is open to all, and cheerily swathes its clientele in an endless thick downy blanket of free wifi.
