Table Mountain Rescue Service
Stuck on Table Mountain? It’s been known to happen – especially to those who think they can “bundu bash” their way to the top, without using any of the trails.
Table Mountain is no joke – one or two die on its slopes almost every year, and half a dozen sustain serious injuries from falls – and that’s why Table Mountain Rescue is around.
Comprising solely volunteers, the fearless TMR folk are part of South Africa’s greater Wilderness Search and Rescue organisation.
One thing to carry with you on a walk up the mountain, then – apart from an anorak, juice, a bite to eat, and a keen commitment to staying on official paths – is TMR’s emergency phone number:
- Table Mountain Rescue: +27 (0) 21 948 9900
- Table Mountain and the Cableway
Cell phone reception is very good in most regions of the Table Mountain National Park, and the TMR volunteers will pull you out of any tight spot.
