Comet McNaught in South Africa: Aptly named ‘cause I ain’t seen nuthin.
Supposedly the brightest comet in 30 years is shining its way across the Southern Hemispheres skies this week, and there is me, telescope in hand looking at clouds! The brightest sighting was to be on Monday, but there was cloud coverage, as too was there last night. Tonight it is clear, very clear, but I can’t find the thing.
According to resources on the web, it should be near the horizon to the south of the setting sun…nope. The comet will not be back for a thousand years so I only have a couple of days left and these clouds better find somewhere else to be.
